Specifying URLs/paths on command line
Ellié Computing Merge accepts URLs as arguments for
comparisons, not only local paths.
Here is what Ellié Computing Merge does when it takes
an argument which must be interpreted as a file or folder
location:
- check if the argument is "-" (a single hyphen sign), if
the argument is for input, the location is standard input,
else standard output
- check if the argument has a supported scheme (ftp, ftps,
any built-in SCC plugin)
or an absolute path (starting with '/' on Unix, with \\
(double anti-slash) or "L:\" (letter colon anti-slash)), and
makes an URL from that
- check if the argument is relative (starting with "~/"
(home directory)), or to current directory (anything
else).
